Colloquium: “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a ‘social contract’ for today’s world

On December 20 and 21, 2023, the René Cassin Foundation is joining forces with Paris Nanterre University to organize an international symposium to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The aim of this symposium is to offer an in-depth study of this founding text of international human rights law, to evoke its legacy and question its topicality. It is also to examine the role of the Declaration in the construction of an international and social order combining human security and sustainable development around a “new social contract” anchored in human rights, in the words of the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Admission is free upon registration.
